OnTuesday, March 29, 2016, at 18:00, the Foundation’s Historical Library hosted a lecture organized by the Greek Institute of Marine Technology (ΕΛΙΝΤ) on “The discoveries and inventions of the ancient Greek Technologists in the fields of shipbuilding, navigation and construction & marine equipment.”
The speaker, Mr. Costas Kotsanas, Mechanical Engineer, Creator of the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology (Katakolon) and the Museum of Archimedes (Ancient Olympia) presented the historical development of cartography, and astronomy in ancient Greece and deliberated on the use of navigational and cartographic instruments.
The event took place in the building of the Historical Library of the Foundation, 36, Defteras Merarchias, in Piraeus. On completion, a small reception was offered, courtesy of DNV GL.
The event was only addressed in Greek.
